Bridal Beauty – Say “I Do” to Gorgeous Skin!

Here at Emily Rockwell Skin Clinic, we feel so honored when a soon-to-be bride turns to us to help them achieve the best skin of their life for the big day! Since our opening six years ago, we’ve worked with countless brides and have perfected a personalized approach to helping every bride reach their skin goals for the big day… and all the celebratory events that precede it.

When it comes to great skin for a big event, the best time to begin or step up your skin care journey is as soon as the date is set! We all know weddings typically have many mini-events that lead up to it including engagement photo shoots, engagement parties, wedding showers, bachelorette parties and more. Achieving glowing, gorgeous skin is important for all of this, not just the walk down the aisle! And we are here for every step of the way!

That’s why I’m sharing all my little tips and tricks for achieving flawless skin for your big day, your timeline for getting the most out of your treatments, and to debunk a few wedding skincare myths. You will hear from our Brides, themselves, about how they arrived at spectacular skin and achieved a flawless face for their wedding day!

How soon should a bride get started on her skin?

The truth is the sooner you start the more time you will have to perfect your skin. Brides should start working on their skin as soon as their wedding date is set. However, many brides are in a time crunch, so don’t panic! There are so many things you can still do, right NOW, to kick off your bridal beauty glow-up for your walk down the aisle.

“I decided to begin my ZO journey back in April shortly after COVID-19 shut down businesses in Delaware and six months before my wedding. I have struggled with acne since high school and had tried everything. A few of my close friends use ZO and always raved about how the products transformed their skin. I suppose my approaching wedding date is what motivated me to really make an investment in my skincare…Luckily for me Emily Rockwell Skin Clinic opened back up just in time for me to see Emily in person before my big day. She approved my self-appointed regimen, and my skin has never looked better! Thank you to Emily and her team for helping me feel confident and beautiful on the biggest day of my life!”

Treatment Timelines

Lip Filler

What better time to have the perfect smile than before your big day! Lip filler is one of the most popular treatments for brides and there is a good reason—fillers can add a little extra hydration, shape, and fullness. So, when is the best time to pucker up? I suggest getting fillers at least 2-3 months before your big day. That way the filler has time to settle and any potential swelling will be completely gone before the wedding date.

Botox

My personal favorite, and a favorite among my bride’s, is Botox. Botox will smooth out smile lines and frown lines.  If it’s your first-time getting Botox, you should start two months prior to your wedding day. This is because it takes about two weeks for the Botox to kick in, which will then last for 3-4 months. This timeframe gives your skin ample time to adjust and settle, looking fresh-faced and smooth.

“Emily and the whole team at the Emily Rockwell Skin Clinic make you feel comfortable the moment you walk in.  Emily’s passion and expertise for aesthetics are evident from the first consultation you have with her! When I became engaged, Emily and I came up with a plan together for my skin goals for my wedding and to say she exceeded all my expectations is an understatement!  She took the time to listen to exactly how I wanted to look and planned out the products and treatments I would need.  Even as 2020 threw a curveball into the mix of so many of my wedding plans; I always knew I could count on Emily to make sure my skin was glowing for not only the day of the wedding, but all of the events leading up to the big day. From products, to vitamins and Botox, Emily had the perfect plan to make me look like my best self and I have never been more confident in my skin than for my wedding day!!”

Medical Facials with Dermaplaning

If you’re looking for an incredible combo treatment, we recommend all brides receive either HydraFacial MD and Dermaplaning or the Red Carpet facial with Dermaplaning. These treatments exfoliate, remove oil buildup, and hydrate your skin. The Dermaplaning portion is what allows for flawless make up application on your wedding day. We advise our brides to receive these facials monthly and on the week of the wedding. It’s the perfect pampering prep.

Laser Treatments

We’re thrilled to offer laser treatments that work to deeply revitalize skin tone and texture. Skin conditions like melasma, sun spots, age spots, hyperpigmentation, redness and more can be addressed with the help of lasers.

Coming in early for a laser consultation is crucial, as all laser regimens require a series of three to four monthly treatments. Starting treatments six to nine months in advance of the big day is recommended.

Vampire Facials with PRP

For brides with facial scarring or those that want to seriously level up their skin’s complexion, I cannot over stress the value of Vampire Facials with PRP! This service works wonders to eliminate texture concerns and boost your glow. Brides with premature wrinkles, high levels of sun damage, or anyone who desires a fresher, more even-toned complexion are ideal candidates for the vampire facial. Vampire Facials are done in a series of three monthly treatments so starting nine to six months ahead of your wedding day is important.

“I started going to Emily a little over 2 years ago because I really wanted to get lip fillers. I started with hydra facials and worked my way up to fillers and it instantly changed everything for me. I was so confident and happy with how I looked. Not long after that I started developing horrible hormonal acne. I never had that issue before, and I hated the way I looked. I got engaged right after my skin started going bezerk and that’s when Emily put me on an aggressive ZO skin health regimen. She encouraged me and worked with me through all the peeling, and frustrations. I started to see results and it was astonishing. She guided me every step of the way and did whatever it took to help me get my dream skin for my wedding. I cannot thank her enough for changing my life and helping me feel beautiful again.”

I Do’s and I Don’ts

It’s time to say your skincare vows! When it comes to looking your best on your big day, there are some Don’ts to avoid to make it to your “I Do’s’:

Cramming a year’s worth of skin care into days: many brides won’t even have a year to get ready for their postponed weddings and that’s okay! So just be mindful of what treatments will work in your timeframe and trust me, there is plenty of time to look gorgeous even if you only have a few months or weeks to do it.
Overdoing it: I always say less is more and nothing is truer when it comes to your wedding. It’s important to start slow building and growing a foundation of treatments and having a clear idea of the look you want to achieve.
Getting Botox or Fillers too soon before the wedding: I recommend getting your last Botox or filler tune up two months before your wedding. These treatments can cause bruising and swelling, so we definitely want to avoid this too close to the big day.
Trying new products you’ve never used before: The worst time to try a new serum or cream is right before your wedding. Your skin can have a negative reaction to new products and it can comprise all the prep work you’ve been doing so far.

“I had been struggling with acne for a very long time and nothing I tried seemed to work. I ended up finding Emily on Instagram and contacted her office right away. This was the best decision I ever made. Emily was amazing to work with. She genuinely cares about her patients and wants you to feel your best!  She created a customized ZO skin regimen, and this was a game changer. As I prepared for my October 2020 wedding, I felt so confident with my skin and honestly looking back at the pictures, I can absolutely say I’ve never felt more confident or beautiful and I owe so much of that to Emily and her incredible work.”

What Brides Want You to Really Know

Achieving your bridal glow goals doesn’t happen in a day, it’s a process! My brides know that better than anyone. Whether you have a few months or a few weeks, it’s always about starting with the basics: a consultation and a personalize skincare regimen. Once we get your daily skincare regimen sorted out and on the right path, we can start adding in treatments—this is the fun part!

“I had been going to Emily for about 6 months before I got engaged, but was SO thankful to have her in my corner as I was getting prepped and beautified for my big day. When I told her I was getting married, she asked what my skincare and beauty goals were and we figured out a plan for the full year ahead of my wedding. It was so nice to have that planned out, and to be able to rely on Emily’s expertise. I knew I was in great hands. We added ZO to my skincare regimen along with hydrafacials and dermaplaning, and my skin was absolutely glowing for our intimate wedding ceremony. Emily is truly passionate about what she does, and an absolute delight to work with!”

So, here is a toast to all of our Brides-to-Be: May your Wedding Day be all that you dreamed, your glow never fade, and your skin be flawless!
